The Method
A set that's yours, from the first measurement to the hundredth wear.
One page, three moments. Every MARÉ set is made to your hands, not sized off a chart. Here's your full journey: how we shape it for you, how you apply it, and how you keep it in rotation for months to come. Jump straight to any section, or read it top to bottom.
01 · Measure
Shaped to your hands.
Give us five minutes with a ruler, and we'll give you a set that feels like it was always yours.
What you'll needA soft measuring tape or a strip of paper, a pen, and a ruler.
How to measure
- Start with your thumb. Measure the width of your natural nail bed at its widest point, straight across.
- Repeat for each finger. All ten, left and right hand separately. Your hands are unique, and we want your set to know that.
- Round to the nearest half millimetre. Between sizes? Choose the larger one. A nail can always be filed down gently, but it can never be stretched.
- Note your shape. Almond, square, natural, or ballerina: whichever one feels most like you.
- Send us your measurements at checkout, and we'll shape your set by hand, just for you.
A set that fits you well is a set that lasts. The more precise your measurements, the longer you'll get to wear and reuse your MARÉ set: think months, not days.
02 · Apply
Ten minutes, on your own terms.
No salon chair, no liquid glue, no waiting around for anything to cure. Just you, your set, and a little care.
What you'll needYour MARÉ set, the jelly glue tabs and alcohol wipe included with it, a nail file or buffer, and a cuticle stick.
Before you beginFind a calm moment and good light. Lay your ten tips out in order, matched to the fingers they were shaped for. Take your time here, it makes everything after this easier.
The steps
- Wash and dry your hands. Any trace of lotion or oil will keep the tab from holding, so start fresh.
- Push back your cuticles, gently, with a cuticle stick.
- Buff the nail surface, lightly. A few passes is enough to remove shine and help the tab grip. You're not filing the nail down, just softening the surface.
- Wipe with the included alcohol wipe. One pass per nail. Please use the wipe we've included rather than a nail polish remover, even an "oil free" one. Most contain conditioning oils that leave a residue you can't see, but the tab can feel it, and it's the most common reason a tab won't hold.
- Check the fit before you commit. Rest the tip against your nail bed without the tab first. It should sit edge to edge, with no gaps and no overhang.
- Apply one jelly glue tab per nail. Press it to the centre of your natural nail, then peel away the backing film.
- Position the tip at a slight angle, lowering it from the cuticle edge down towards your fingertip, rather than pressing straight down.
- Press and hold, firm and even, for twenty seconds. No lamp, no liquid needed. This is what sets the bond, and you're almost there.
- Check the edges. If anything lifts, just press again for a few seconds until it sits flush.
If a tab won't hold
This is almost always residue, not a faulty tab. Wipe the nail again with a fresh alcohol wipe, let it dry for a few seconds, and apply a new tab.
A note on fit
Your set is shaped to the measurements you gave us, so it should sit close to the nail without any force. If a tip feels tight, snug, or won't lie flat even after a proper prep and press, stop and get in touch with us rather than forcing it. We'd rather help you get it right than have you force something that isn't quite ready.
Once applied, your set is ready to wear right away.
03 · Wear & Care
Made to be worn again.
Your MARÉ set was never meant for just one wear. Treat it kindly, and it'll be with you for a long time.
Wearing it well
Treat your set the way you'd treat your own nails. A pair of gloves for washing up, and a little extra care around the edges when typing or opening cans, will keep it looking its best for the whole length of your wear.
Removing with care
- Soften the tab first. Soak the nail in warm water for a few minutes, or gently work a cuticle stick under the edge, to loosen the jelly glue tab.
- Lift, don't pull. Ease the tip away from one edge, never straight off. Forcing it risks damaging both the tip and your natural nail.
- Remove any tab residue gently. Peel it off by hand rather than scraping, so the finish on the underside of the tip stays protected.
Storing between wears
Wipe the underside of each tip clean and let it dry fully before storing. Keep your set in its box, away from direct sunlight and heat, so it's ready and looking its best next time you reach for it.
A few things to avoid
Acetone soaks, filing the painted surface, and prolonged water exposure will shorten how long your jelly glue tab lasts. Your nails themselves can still be reused, a fresh tab is all it takes to bring your set back for its next wear.
Cared for well, your MARÉ set is a piece in rotation, not a single occasion.
